Nearly 1600 athletes and spectators embrace healthy lifestyle choices
WASHINGTON, DC, May 15, 2010 – Today nearly 1200 track athletes from 5-16 years old participated in the 2nd Annual Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet at Dunbar Senior High School. The youth track meet was presented by the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. Inc (“the 100”). 1968 Olympic Gold Medalist Tommie Smith hosted the 2nd Annual Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet. The event was held in conjunction with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and was sanctioned by USA Track and Field (Potomac Field).

WASHINGTON, DC – June 1, 2010 - The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. (“the 100”) announced today Southwest Airlines continued support with the agreement to offer Travel Awards for area students and their mentors to fly to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to participate in the 24th Annual Conference for the 100 Black Men of America. Southwest Airlines began supporting The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC in 2008 and announced its continued commitment during the Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet in front of nearly 2000 athletes and supporters at Dunbar Senior High School in NW, DC.

The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. (“the 100”) announced today that FedEx donated $10,000 to support programming and scholarships. Michael E. Melton, President of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC accepted the check from FedEx representative Eddie Patterson.

The TV series “The Good Wife” seen on CBS will feature the Chicago Chapter of 100 Black Men of America in an upcoming episode that airs Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 9p.m.
One of the main characters in the series will highlight 100BMOA’s outstanding service to the community and commitment to youth in a scene that takes place in Chicago. The 100 Black Men brand will be on display on a back drop behind the podium in the scene.
