FEDEX DELIVERS FOR “THE 100” Shipping Company to support local initiatives
WASHINGTON, DC – May 14, 2010 - The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. (“the 100”) announced today that FedEx donated $10,000 to support programming and scholarships. Michael E. Melton, President of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC accepted the check from FedEx representative Eddie Patterson.
The funds were designated for the 2nd Annual Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet and the Reginald T. Cureton Scholarship Fund. The track meet will highlight “the 100” health and wellness programs aimed at educating area youths about the dangers of childhood obesity. During the track meet several mobile units will be on hand to provide health care screenings to the athletes, parents and the local community. Approximately 30 FedEx volunteers will provide event support on the day of the track meet.
“I’m extremely excited about the potential of our relationship to make positive impact on the lives of kids in need around the Greater Washington, DC area” said Michael E. Melton, President of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. Inc.

100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C., Inc. is a 501(c3) organization founded in 1995 by an alliance of African-American men, dedicated to giving time to enhance the lives of young people in the Washington Metropolitan Area. 100 BMOGW, Inc. is an affiliate of the 100 Black Men of America (100 BMOA).
